Hoi An

Hoi An was our next destination. It is a small town but very well known and much liked among tourists. We, too, enjoyed its special atmosphere.

Hoi An is an old trading port, so it has a rich history of which many buildings are preserved in the old town. It is also Vietnam's city of tailors, shoemakers, souvenir shops, and Chinese lanterns.
The city tries to be as likeable as it can for tourists, but the fierce competition of salesmen for your attention and wallet can spoil some of the otherwise very positive impression. They pester, harrass and plague you without mercy.
Hoi An is pretty by day, and romantically illuminated by night. We spent 4 days here and were glad we found a very nice, quiet hotel.
