Suður-Bár

I'm staying for two nights at the farm Suður-Bár, located on the north side of the peninsula Snæfellsnes.

The farm is situated right next to the sea, with a rough mountain in the back, in a quiet and peaceful environment, such an idyllic scenery. Our host is Erna with her husband Marteinn and their 8-year-old son Jóhann. Erna is one of the most witty persons I've ever met, full of humor and quick wit. I met Marteinn just briefly, he's very friendly too and good on the computer. And Jóhann is a clever boy, he speaks real good English already.

They breed horses on this farm, and they also have a golf course and the guesthouse business going. Look at that magnificent photo I shot yesterday evening with the horses against the setting sun. I think it could win me a first prize! :)

Another beautiful photo of the sunset. The sea was flat like a mirror, all you could hear were the birds. This picture was taken just before midnight. The mountains at the horizon are the West Fjords.

There are a myriad of birds here on Snæfellsnes. Some of them are not shy at all! I nearly ran over one couple of fowl-like specimen that ran with suicidal intent to and fro across the gravel road. Later when walking down to the sea, I was attacked by seagulls flying low over my head with loud screeches, trying to scare me off... and then look! I found a duck's nest with four green eggs in it.
