Húsavík
This beautiful photo shows the port of Húsavík, which is the northernmost town on my route -- not quite at the polar circle, but above 66 degrees of northern latitude.
They do whalewatching tours here and have a whale museum. But more interesting, I think, is their penis museum which is probably a world singularity.
Unfortunately the museum did not open until 12 o'clock noon and I had to move on to make the long tour I had planned for the day. Icelanders apparently like to sleep in, as a lot of shops and museums don't open until 10:00, 12:00 or even 14:00 o'clock. So I couldn't go in. But you can read about the unusual museum on Wikipedia and see pictures here.
