Mud pools

Only a few kilometers east of lake Mývatn, on the east side of the pass Námaskarð, is a high-temperature area called Hverir, also known as Hverarönð.

It features fumaroles where hot steam comes out of the ground and also "mud pools" full of boiling hot, bubbling, sulphurous, acidic mud.

You do not want to fall into any of them. It's not a nice death.
